Most monday.com users rely on the platform to track their critical business data. From recording transactions, managing contacts, tracking sales, monitoring projects, or just simply keeping up with day-to-day activities, there is simply so much data to be managed.
The eventual problem with managing volumes of data is that sometimes, a line or two gets deleted, often accidentally. Even worse, deliberate removal of specific data could compromise critical business information.
Worry no more. With the Historical Data Processing feature of Master Data, you can automatically back up your information in one board and ensure nothing gets lost or deleted.
If your data lives in multiple boards, it’s best to consolidate all of that in one place. Not only does this give you an overview of everything, it’s always a good rule of thumb to back up data for historical or documentation purposes. With Master Data, data from different boards can be automatically synced to your Master Board. Every item created or changed from the selected source boards will be replicated in the Master Board.
But what if a few items get deleted or archived in the Source Boards?
Master Data offers you two options:
“Mark,” which allows you to retain items in the Master Board even if the same item is deleted or archived; and
“Remove,” which removes deleted or archived items in the Master Board as well
By choosing the “Mark” option, you don’t need to worry anymore about items being deleted in your source boards. Once an item that has been synced into the Master Board gets deleted or archived in the Source Board, the Status Column in the Master Board will show “Deleted” or “Archived.” This gives you peace of mind that all entered items and their information are backed up in the Master Board.
Once all the Master Data sync recipes has been installed on the Source Boards, all changes in them will be synced into your Master Board. Deleted or archived items will show up as “Deleted” or “Archived.”
Thus, it is important that access to your Master Board be restricted only to persons with clearance to make sure that data in the Master Board does not get compromised or altered.

Keep an audit trail for financial transactions by retaining deleted or archived data for reference. Safeguard against errors or intentional data manipulation by preserving transaction histories.
Reference deleted or archived tasks for valuable insights or historical context. Recover critical project data accidentally deleted or verify compliance with contractual obligations by referencing archived work.
